License Points Info

License points are issued in the event of certain violations of Title 3 - Vehicle Code.

New drivers begin with 0 points. The number of points issued by a violation depends on the severity of the violation. After receiving their 9th point, drivers will have their license automatically suspended. They may petition the courts to have their license reissued, however, even if they receive it, any additional points accrued will re-suspend their license.

The Department of Motor Vehicles may, at some point, offer ways to reduce the number of points on one's record.
