[4] 13 - Contempt of Court (Federal Charge)

The act of being disobedient to or discourteous towards a court of law and its officers in the form of behavior that opposes or defies the authority, justice, and dignity of the court. The time or fine received is at the Judge's Discretion depending on how the scenario played out.

Misdemeanor or Felony Sentence: 200 Seconds Fine: $1000

Examples:

1) Being loud or belligerent in court 2) Refusing to be sworn in as a witness during a San Andrea's Criminal Trial 3) Disobeying a court order (Title 5, Section 7)

Defense:

1) Any violation of a court order was not done willfully, 2) There was no disorderly conduct, and/or 3) The defendant is being falsely accused.
